About me

Hey, my name is Thomas Winsnes. I’m a recent graduate from the University of Canberra. I graduated with a bachelor in IT in June 2010. I am originally from Norway, but have decided to settle down here in Australia, and currently live in Canberra.

I’m currently employed by XP Software as a software engineer. Here I mainly work on the user interface for their flood modeling software. I have been working extensively with 3D rendering libraries; especially Mogre/Ogre3D.

I have a few projects that I’m working on in my free time, but those are hush hush at the moment, but they will be posted about here when they are ready for the public. I use them to test out new technologies and learn new and better ways of doing old things :)

Eve learning curve

Eve online is also something I spend quite a bit of time on. It’s an online space MMO, where everything is controlled by the players. It’s a sandbox game, where being mean is encouraged, so there is a lot of harsh lessons learned while playing, but the risk is what makes it such a great game in my opinion. If science fiction is one of your fortes, you should definitively have a look at it, but be warned, the learning curve is quite steep.
